Season Summary - 2007
If 2006 was a year for laying new foundations, 2007 was certainly a year for building on them. An extended welcome to those players who joined us for the first time this season; you have made a valuable addition to the club and your contribution went a long way to helping us win seven out of our ten games.
It was a pleasure to lead a full squad each match and we began the season by beating the side who would eventually gain promotion to the 2nd division.
We became a team with a solid core, which provided cohesion for several youngsters who also proved a great asset to the side.
Our bowling was strong and when chasing a total, we seldom batted out the order; a huge departure from last season when we seldom batted out the overs.
Having flirted with the promotion slot for a few weeks, it is clear that we have the capability to move up to the 2nd division, whether we can sustain our strength against stronger sides, is any ones guess.
Finishing 4th overall, we should be proud of our achievements and take this possitivity through to next season.
Memorable performances include:
Andy MacDonough: 47 (BAC), 45 n.o. (Bristol Civil Service)
Mark Pope: 48 n.o. (BAC)
Tom Groves: 4 for 16 off 7 (BAC)
Ian Peacock-Edwards: 44 (BAC), 40 n.o. (Timsbury), 4 for 18 off 5 (Bristol Civil Service)
