Match Reports:

23rd May
Bristol CC 113 for 7
SBCC 90 for 6

Well done to everyone who played in Fridays match against Bristol CC.They are a good side who bowled well to keep us down to only 90 runs. We fielded well with a great direct hit run out from Theo to get rid of their opening Batsman.

We lost some batsman to Run outs & weren’t as positive with our running and calling as we could have been. Good performances with the bat from Matt (16), Calum (14), Gareth (13) & to Sam who ran out of time for his 8 not out.

Our bowling wasn’t as good as normal and we undoubtedly contributed to our downfall by giving away 46 extras mostly wides & no balls (they only had 21 extras) – if we had kept to our task of line and length we could have won this match!

There were good performances with the ball from:
Rishi 4 overs 1 wicket for 9
Prevan 4 overs 3 wicket for 20
Patrick 2 overs 2 wickets for 8
Thanks to Sagren for scoring and to all the other parents for supporting.

10 th June
Stapleton CC 64 runs 7 wickets 20 overs
Stoke Bishop CC 65 runs 1 wicket 14.1 overs

Well done to all who played against Stapleton CC last night. Good bowling display we kept them to only 64 – Everyone bowled well - star man for Stoke Bishop – Ricky Vafeas 2 Overs 5 runs 2 wickets & only 1 extra!

Batting was easy for us and we won with nearly 6 overs to spare. Prevan 21/Rishi 16/Sam 8/Dan 3/Fin 1

Coaches comments –

Everyone except Sam had a bowl & bowled pretty well, but there was still too many extras - 4 no balls & 6 wides (nearly a third of Stapleton’s total)

Batting – Prev & Rishi gave us a good solid start, & were surprised at being retired early - In hind sight probably a good match to have reversed the batting order, but if we had lost you’d have all pilloried the coach!! – I will try to get more people involved earlier in a similar situation.

We are now joint top of the league with Twyford House with 4 wins each – they are our last opponents on the 9th July – keep the date free!! Thanks to Paul for scoring, James for Umpiring & all the parents for supporting – Yes I did manage to get back in time to celebrate Frances & my wedding anniversary!!

8th July

After a very close match against Twyford House, our Under 11's came top of their section of the Bristol Youth Cricket League having won all their League matches this season.

This put them into the League play-offs and, last night, they recorded a convincing win against Gordano Downs to put them into the semi-finals; batting, bowling, fielding and captaincy were all impressive!

The semi-final is against Bristol West Indians; they are a good team but can be beaten as our Under 13's proved in the final of the Frank Benner Cup at the County Ground two years ago.

Good luck to our Under 11's in the semi-final and the final; with a bit of luck, they are good enough to go all the way!!!

30th July
Semi-Final
Bristol West Indians 94 for 7
SBCC 95 for 1

Great Great Result though we didn’t field as well as we did against Gordano – but in saying that Finley was our man of the match with 3 runouts & there were also great performances from the batters & bowlers as well!!
