Shiatsu is a Japanese body therapy, literally translated it means ‘finger pressure’.
It is a new term for the oldest form of medicine: healing with hands.
Shiatsu works with chi, which flows through all things. When it’s out of balance,
symptoms occur like a warning light. Shiatsu encourages chi to flow more smoothly
so that the symptom can disappear.
Shiatsu encourages deep relaxation of the body, breath, mind and spirit.
This can stimulate the body's natural healing power to restore balance and health.
The practitioner tunes into the client’s chi and works with it by sensing the quality
of the energy and whether it has an emotional resonance. By meeting this energy
with the appropriate technique, the chi is given the opportunity to transform.
Chi can transform by being acknowledged, accepted, sometimes challenged, respected,
appreciated, understood and given proper release through expression.
